  1. How on earth did people know it was 8pm when nobody wore a watch in the reign of King Alfred?

  2. It would be good to know more details of the answers – eg; why the water level goes down in a glass of iced water.

    Water becomes more dense as it freezes and becomes Ice( that’s why pipes freeze and burst) so taking up more space, as it melts it occupies less space and so the level decreases.
